Knitting on Tuesday nights

I just love Tuesday night!  That’s the night I meet my friends at our favorite knit shop for knitting and chatting.  Artisan Knit Works!  You’d love this shop.  When Laura Bryant of Prism Yarns was there (on a rare visit to a local shop) she commented that it was unique.  “There’s not another shop like it in the country.”  We are so lucky its close by.

Every Tuesday I drive down the famous Lakeshore drive to Artisan Knitworks.  You may have seen this scenic drive at the very end of the Clint Eastwood movie “Grand Torino”.  It’s a lovely drive along Lake St. Clair.  Any season is wonderful but summer is the best.  There are sailboats on the water and wonderfully landscaped houses and mansions along the way.  It’s a calming drive after a hard day’s work.

When I get to the shop my eyes are treated to the riot of color and textures that fill the shop.  The shop is stocked with unique yarns from the best hand dyers, and spinners from around the country.  Sandra, the owner, sees to that.  This shop is bursting with the beautiful artisan yarns that typical shops devote only a small corner to.

Another feature that sets Artisan apart is the HUGE collection of buttons!  They have antique, glass, wood, ceramic, resin, you name it.   I’m not talking about a few buttons in small jars.  I’m talking about thousands of the most beautiful and unique buttons anywhere.  If you need a button for any project the perfect button will be there.  Trust me on this.

If you ever find yourself in Grosse Pointe Park or if you crave a lovely scenic drive with a great destination, you’ve got to stop in.  For details see their web-site – http://www.artisanknitworks.com/
